About Gwen. . .

Raised in Hurt, Virginia, Gwen moved to Wyoming in the 1980's.  While living there, she studied Haircolor and Design at The Vogue School of Cosmetology in Idaho Falls, Idaho, becoming dual-licensed by the states of Idaho and Wyoming in 1989.  After moving back to Virginia she earned a BA in History from Randolph-Macon Woman's College in 1999.  Gwen worked in the non-profit sector after graduation, but missed the variety of life behind the chair, so in 2001 she added instructor's credentials to her license and returned to the Cosmetology industry as a Hairstylist, Colorist and Educator.

During her career, she has owned a Paul Mitchell Signature Salon, worked as an educator for Matrix products and instructed at Ralph's School of Cosmetology (now Legends) in Lynchburg, and Regal Academy in Rustburg, VA.

Gwen's specialized training in color, texture and design has been developed over the years in continuing education courses from the American Board of Certified Haircolorists, Pivot Point, MiLady, Chromastics, Chi, Matrix, Redkin, Paul Mitchell, American Crew, Pureology, Alterna, and Logics, and has participated in seminars all over the US taught by the greats in the industry including Robert Cromeans, Beth Minardi, Tom Dispenza, Misael Aponte and Martin Parsons.

Today, she works her magic behind the chair at Mitchell's Salon on 7th Street in Altavista, VA.  For appointments, call 434.426.5981.
